Iconic Don Strange Ranch Hits the Real Estate Market

August 19, 2022 by jglast Leave a Comment

Preeminent luxury real estate team, Jason Glast Group with Phyllis Browning Co., and listing agent Bennett Kennedy are proud to announce their newest listing: the iconic Don Strange Ranch. Nestled in the Texas Hill Country, this is an important, historic property.

“I am honored to share the story of this significant ranch,” Kennedy, a Fair Oaks Ranch resident, said. “With deep roots in the Boerne area, I’m proud to represent this unique Texas treasure.”

The Don Strange Ranch hit the Texas real estate market on June 7th, listed at $4,750,000. This land is located only nine miles from downtown Boerne and 35 miles from Fredericksburg. The gently rolling topography with numerous expansion sites offers established native game, a paved road with three access points off Welfar Road, two homes (one historical), not one but two venue pavilions, multiple secondary buildings, a horse stable, ropes course, well-established road system, and three wells on site. The spring-fed Zinc Creek flows through the property offering live water views and a half-acre lake adjacent to the Headquarters Pavillion. “There are so many exciting possibilities here for the new owner. This acreage could easily be a working ranch, horse property, or weekend getaway (just to name a few) or remain as it is today, a well-known profitable event and wedding venue,” Kennedy noted.

The story of its settlement dates back to the mid-1800s when German Prince Carl of Solms-Braunfels came over to establish a presence on Texas land. Developed by Nicolaus Zink, a Bavarian-born civil engineer, in 1868, this ranch is an important piece of Texas history. Zink was a crucial part of the Germans success in the Hill Country by respecting Comanche territory and successfully navigating unrest, disease, and financial difficulties. He eventually became responsible for about half of the German immigrants in the Hill Country.

Following the initial development of this ranch by Zink, Don Strange and his family further developed and beautifully maintained this piece of history beginning in 1952. It has since earned an exceptional reputation statewide for providing impeccable service, hosting fabulous events, and providing world-class entertainment. From small, private events to large gatherings welcoming thousands, this fantastic venue is great for celebrating weddings, corporate and sports events in an unforgettable way.

Award-winning REALTOR® Bennett Kennedy and his family have deep roots in the Boerne area. He is proud to be representing this unique piece of Texas real estate.
